Malibu addiction treatment centers are available to help people with severe addictions recover and get their lives back on track. There are two main types of treatment options for an addict. We will go over these Malibu addiction treatment options below.

Residential Short-Term Treatment

Residential short-term treatment will provide an intense treatment program over a relatively short stay for the patient. These types of programs follow the basic 12 step method; however, they are modified to accommodate the short stay for the patient. These types of programs originated to target alcoholism but have since evolved into treating other substances as well.

The short-term Malibu addiction treatment programs generally last between 3 to 6 weeks. Patients are admitted into an inpatient program and then transition to an outpatient program after the 3 to 6 weeks is up. During the outpatient period, the patient will attend therapy sessions and go to self-help meetings. An example of this is AA for alcoholics.

The outpatient portion of this recovery is critical. If the patient does not keep up with their obligations, they become far more likely to relapse and will have to redo the treatment process all over again. The outpatient programs will greatly increase the chances that the patient is fully rehabilitated.

Residential Long-Term Treatment

Long term Malibu addiction treatment will usually involve 24-7 observation and treatment for up to a full year. The typically stay will last from 6-12 months for most people in this type of program. This type of treatment usually takes place outside of the hospital. There will typically be specialized facilities that are built specifically for these types of recovery programs.

In these long-term residencies, they use a therapeutic technique called a therapeutic community. It places addicts that are trying to recover together over a long period of time. This puts them in a position where they will support each other as they go through their recovery.

In many ways, this type of treatment helps to re-socialize the addict to a life without their drug. It adds a social context to what they are trying to achieve throughout this process. Mentally, it helps them better accept their new reality that they are aiming for.

The staff is included in this community. These types of facilities generally try to keep their staff consistent and encourage all their staff to interact with the patients. Along with creating a structured environment for the recovering addicts, it also helps teach them responsibility and how to remain accountable for their actions.

Short term and long term residencies are both good options to consider for a Malibu Addiction Treatment. Residential treatment options are plentiful and our staff is readily equipped to serve our clients.
