Texas is known for being the home of rugged individualists, and Cedar Park’s residents are no different. However there are still jobs which even the most rugged individualist will seek help on. Roofing seems to be a prime example. Now there are some obvious reasons why, but it does serve a purpose to take a moment to celebrate the hard work roofers do at an unexciting job. A lot of people have issues with heights if not an outright fear. For them climbing atop a roof to do much of anything is borderline impossible. It’s also patently unsafe to put yourself in a risky position that you don’t have the nerve to handle. If fear of heights is a problem for you then admit it and call in professionals. There are a fair number of people who get terrified just cleaning the gutters because being near the top of the ladder is too much. The other factor is that roofing is actually fairly skilled labor. People with office jobs tend to have one of two approaches to manual labor, it’s either impossibly easy and any idiot with a wrench could do it, or it’s a bizarre eldritch practice of dark magic. Roofing is difficult, it requires skill and experience but it’s not as though Cedar Park roofers were born with some innate skill. Instead it’s simply that most roofers have been doing the job so long and so many times they’ve gotten good at the act of moving around a roof (slanted surface elevated above the ground) while carrying heavy items.
