An ATU in Maui Will Produce Cleaner Water

There’s nothing more irritating than a septic system that keeps backing up. An ATU in Maui system is designed to prevent many of the problems associated with waste water issues. ATU stands for Aerobic Treatment Unit and works much like a standard septic system does in cleaning and filtering wastewater. However, unlike traditional wastewater systems, an ATU system also incorporates the use of oxygen during the process of breaking down organic matter. The process is similar to how a wastewater treatment facility cleans water, but on a much smaller scale.

No one wants to think about cleaning a septic system. However, they do require maintenance at some point. If the cleaning process is inferior, chances are the system will need to be cleaned again much sooner than one would like it to be. Wastewater needs to be broken down to completely eliminate any organic material within it. What doesn’t break down needs to be separated. The process is quite intense, but an atu in Maui can handle it better than other systems are capable of doing. The secret is the incorporation of air, or oxygen, which helps the solid organic matter decompose faster. This means that whatever water goes through an ATU system will come out cleaner, since more foreign material is removed during the treatment process.

An ATU system cleans waste water by forcing compressed air into the water. This procedure causes a bubbling effect that is highly oxygenated. This enriched water allows bacteria to thrive within it which, in turn, breaks down any unwanted organic material. During this process, pathogens and solid waste are removed before the water is filtered again to remove the residual by-products and bacteria. It’s a complicated system, but it gets very efficient results and produces cleaner water than what typically results from other treatment processes.

In a normal septic tank, solids sink to the bottom of the tank and become sludge, while the floating materials form a layer of scum at the surface. In an ATU unit, the solids and floating materials are kept suspended in the water by the bubbling oxygen, so they cannot separate out. This gives the bacteria more time to break it all down. Whatever doesn’t decompose is returned to the aerobic area for another treatment. While most ATU systems require more maintenance, they last longer overall and produce cleaner water.
