What to Look for From Playground Suppliers

by | May 2, 2013 | Business

Do you want to make a private playground in your back yard for your children to enjoy? Maybe you are a city or county official who wants to create a space in which the children of your community can have fun and play. Or you could be a business owner who wants to make sure that you keep the children of your customers happy and entertained. If you are looking to build a playground, you will likely have to go through playground suppliers

Items to Obtain from Playground Suppliers

The first order of business when shopping for playground suppliers is to make sure that they carry the type of equipment you are seeking. A playground needs items for kids to play on. There are multiple types of playground essentials. The major ones you should seek are:

  • Slides

  • Swings

  • Seesaws

  • Merry go rounds

  • Scramblers

  • Spring riders

  • Thrillers

  • Kiddies range

  • Multi activity play systems (can be themed)

More than Fun

It is easy to get caught up in thinking only about all the equipment children will need to have fun. However, there are practical things to consider which you should make sure that playground suppliers can provide you with as well, depending on how intensive the playground project which you are undertaking is. If you have a large ground area you are dealing with and want to create a public space, you should look into getting park amenities.

One big thing which you should look into getting is trash bins. If kids will be at the playground for a long time, there will no doubt be a need for them to put their trash. Think of all the trash kids produce: used tissues, candy bar wrappers, band aids, etc. Do you really want trash littering up your equipment and your park? Also, if it is a public space, littering will be illegal anyway, so you will need a place for them to put their trash.

The other amenity which you should consider buying is benches. While the kids may spend all their time on your equipment, no doubt they will need constant supervision. The parents, teachers, day care supervisors, or babysitters will also be in your park for a long time, only they won’t be playing on the equipment (most likely, at least). No doubt they would prefer to sit rather than stand while they watch their kids.
